Balaka Police is keeping in custody a 42-year-old man, for allegedly murdering a 44-year-old man, Akimu Sinoya suspecting him to have been in love affair with the suspect’s wife.
Balaka Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Felix Misomali confirmed the development adding the suspect , Awali Bwanali assaulted late Akimu with a panga knife on April 20, 2020 about 16:00 hours at Chingwalungwalu Village in Traditional Authority Kalembo’s area before robbing him cash and a cellphone.
Misomali said the deceased was then rushed to Kalembo Health Centre where he died while receiving treatment.
“Postmortem conducted revealed death was due to severe loss of blood secondary to deep cuts. Bwanali will appear before court to answer charges of murder contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code”, said Misomali.
The late Akimu hailed from Wadi Village in the area of Senior Chief Kalembo while Bwanali comes from Mtenga Village, Traditional Authority Amidu, both from Balaka district.
Meanwhile Balaka police has warned the general public to refrain from taking the law in their hands, but rather people should seek legal redress when they feel aggrieved.
