As part of cooperate social responsibility,Demeter Fuel and Crop Farm in Balaka has donated four Land cruiser car tyres to Balaka Police Station in the district to ease its mobility challenges.
Speaking during presentation of the donation, Demeter Fuel and Crop farm General Manager, Chriss Stoles said he was concerned with mobility challenges the station faces after one of its vehicles got grounded due to worn out tyres.
Stoles further highlighted that the good working relationship between the farm, a subsidiary of Farmers World, and the police has led to the company’s decision to rescue the station.
“Police plays a very important role in protecting us and our customers so we thought it wise to give back as a token of appreciation and at the same time establishing a good working relationship”, he said.
Commenting on the development, Officer In-Charge for Balaka police, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police John Nkhoma highly praised the company for the contribution, saying it is timely.
Nkhoma said the donation will make it possible for the law enforcers to accelerate public response to security emergencies in the district.
